In Tumkur, close to the town of Dobbaspet, a little hill called Nijagal Betta or Siddara Betta stands out along the Pune-Bangalore highway mainly because of its old temple and fort remains. The trek begins using a mud road that transverses over some large boulders that are suitable for rock climbing; it finally culminates at the topmost point with a mosque. Hanuman temple and Dargah stand on this hill, thus emphasising religious coexistence as locals gather there to pray.
Nijagal Betta is a good place for those who want to start trekking. I mean, you wouldn’t say that it is a high mountain, but when you get to the top, you will see magnificent scenery, including Shivaganga Hills far away on your horizon. The trek starts with Hanuman idol carved into rock available near temples and dargahs, which represent two different religions at once. From here, you can also have an aerial view of the trains down below.
Nijagal Betta is a perfect fusion of excitement, divinity, and scenic magnificence that is ideal for novice or seasoned adventurers. For serious climbers as well as those looking for a quick retreat, this mountain has in store an extraordinary trekking experience with stunning views and a little bit of historical context.
